Description
Course Overview
This course focuses on developing sustainable systems for using artificial intelligence in instructional practice. Participants examine how AI tools are currently used across planning, instruction, and assessment, and identify where inconsistency, overuse, or lack of structure impacts efficiency and decision-making.
Through guided readings, videos, and applied activities, participants will define clear roles for AI within their workflow, assign distinct functions to tools, and establish boundaries that support productivity and reduce cognitive overload. Emphasis is placed on organizing AI use into repeatable systems that maintain clarity, efficiency, and professional judgment.
The course also addresses ethical considerations including privacy, bias, and responsible use while helping educators develop structured workflows that integrate planning, differentiation, and feedback into a cohesive process.
This course is appropriate for both general education and special education teachers of students in grades K–12 and is worth 45 in-service hours (3 semester credits/units).
