Description

Are you interested in learning about behavior, why students engage in certain behaviors and how studying their behavior can help eliminate them from your classroom? If you answered yes to these questions, this introduction to behavior class is where you can start that journey.

Pre-K through high school teachers can benefit from learning the basic components of behavioral   theory and how they can use that understanding to decrease behaviors in the classroom.  This course is appropriate for both general education and special education teachers and is worth 45 hours of professional development.

* To explore the different types of consequences

* To explore the relationship between positive reinforcement and behavior

*To collect, analyze and determine the function of behavior using behavioral data

*To decrease behaviors through the use of data collection and analysis

*To introduce replacement behavior as a strategy to decrease problem behavior and increase skill sets

*To use extinction as a strategy to decrease problem behavior
